TRACKING the “YES”—The New Operating System

Do you find that you do not recognize yourself? Do you find yourself doing things that cause your friends to question your sanity? Are you making decisions that are not making sense, even to you?

If you answered ‘yes’, to any of these, I want to reassure you that you are not losing your way nor are you a candidate for being locked away to protect yourself or others.  You are part of a phenomenon that I have been seeing more frequently in the people who I meet at speaking engagements that then work with me one on one.

What is happening is that you are changing your operating system. You are trying to make decisions the way you always have, likely through logic, reasoning and building on what’s worked in the past.  The problem is, what worked before is not working anymore and you are being forced to change your whole way of being.

The last three years of recession is becoming the new normal or is recovering (depending on who you talk to), and people are confused because they are not as upset as they think they should be about their current work or financial situations.  The ‘old’ them would be pacing a trench through the carpet, while their ‘new’ self is anxious yet contemplative of what their next move should be.

Also part of this phenomenon is that people don’t want to rush to take just any opportunity to get back to work or to make a change.  They want the YES! The full-body-resonating YES.  The one that is ‘it’. The one that will make a difference and satisfy them for a while. They don’t want another means to end but rather an END (for now) that feels great—the one that feels like a “YES”.

Two people I am working with right now, one male , one female, are both watching their savings drain, but knowing that they are moving toward the ‘right’ thing not just ‘anything’ is keeping them sane.  The woman is already in negotiations for a self-made position she proposed to a local small business and the man is putting out  a revamped resume after years of sitting idle watching promotions going to other people.  They waited for the “YES” and used it as a sign that it was time to commit.

Tracking that “YES”—finding it—is a matter of listening closely to your body and not necessarily your head.  Your head will look for logic and reasoning.  But today’s climate does not make those tools the effective ones.  The resource you need to obey right now is your gut.  When your whole body says “YES”, deafening the logic in your head and making you question if you’re nuts, you are on the right track.

Your next move may be radical or at the very least, may invoke fear in you.  That’s good.  That means you are obeying something critical to you being fully expressed, useful and fulfilled.  Will it make you money?  Yes and not always right away but persevere.

Track the YES.  Feel it and follow it.  It won’t let you down—you’ll be too busy spinning from first thinking you’re nuts to then knowing you are pure genius.  The proof will be in how you FEEL, not what you or anyone else THINK.  That’s your new operating system.  THAT is your YES!
