A Good Day

gooddayToday was a good day.  Nothing particularly stellar happened.  The weather wasn’t even nice. There was no surprise good news or opportunity, it was just a good day.  As I sat in my car at a red light, I contemplated this and the idea to blog about this came to mind.  What makes a good day?

It started with a run.  That felt good and set a good tone (can you say endorphins?) Then a Weight Watchers meeting. (another positive experience) errands run and a couple of to do’s completed on the way home.  Some productivity at the office, a 1pm dentist appointment (it was not unpleasant) and back to the office for more productivity.  I made a yummy dinner from scratch and welcomed home a happy family.  (no dramas or complainers today!) Family meal, homework, dance lesson, more homework, reading from my champ and a little Food Network before bed.

What was it? What made it a good day? It was ordinary. There was no stellar accomplishment, phone call or extra deposit in the bank account.  Nothing stood out. But, you know, it felt good.  No stress.  No jarring moments.  I was present (not distracted) in every part of it.  I appreciated the simplicity of it. I was grateful for it all.

I will pay more attention to all days and see if I can create more ‘good’ days.  How about you?

I love when I can sit back at the end of an “ordinary” day, with nothing special having happened, and still call it a good one. Isn’t that wonderful, when we can just appreciate what we have right in front of us?
